Dear Parents and Students,
It is with great anticipation that we look forward to seeing our students and families return for the
beginning of Term 3.
This week’s Newsletter is a brief one to provide you with an overview of the activities and events during Term 3.
Assembly on Tuesday at 9.00am to welcome back everyone.
After School Care on Tuesday 18th until 4.30pm
After School Care on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday until 5.30pm
After School Care is expected to be provided on Tuesdays and Wednesdays until our Homework Club initiative begins. If you require this service, it is imperative that you register your child with Suzi at the Office.
Term 3 Student Lunches
We are seeking expressions of interest from parents who are able to provide assistance in the preparation of lunches for students this term. Menu items we would like to consider include; pasta, pizza, soup. Would you please contact Suzi at the Office this week to let her know if you are able to help. It does not have to be a weekly commitment. We are able to provide a different menu item each week, if we have to.
We are still awaiting the final stages of the grant process to be completed to enable us to begin the program.
We will be working with the Centre of Multicultural Youth (CMY) to have a template ‘action plan’ and a coordinator who will provide further support that enables our initiative to identify, collect and collate data and other information (outcomes, challenges ) that we can use for accountability purposes. This will provide us with an opportunity to work together with CMY to deliver the most effective learning outcomes for the students who are part of the initiative.
At this stage, the Homework Club is anticipated to begin during the week of 31st July. Further details will be sent to all families within the next couple of weeks.
KPDSA Term 3 Events
During Term 3 there will be Basketball and Indoor Soccer Tournaments during August/September in which we have entered our school.
Friday Sports & Activities Program
This term our Friday afternoon program will include sport, in preparation for our Term 3 Tournaments, and a range of indoor and outdoor activities.
20th Year Celebration Event
In light of the School’s 20th Year Anniversary, instead of staging a school production this year, we felt it was an exciting opportunity for our students and school community to gain a greater insight into the history of the school. Our 20th Year Celebration Event will showcase this through student performance, audio-visual presentations and reflections from key figures, including alumni.
Wednesday 20th September is the night we have set aside for this celebration. It will be held at the Rivergum Theatre, Parade College. This is the same venue we used last year for our school production of Aesop’s Fables.
Strategic Planning Day
There will be a student-free day on Tuesday 15th August to enable the school staff to spend the necessary time, collectively, to review the school’s education programs and formulate new and revised goals, targets and strategies for the next 3-5 years.
If there is demand, the school will consider operating a “Childcare Program” for the day.
